FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHERE DO RECORDING SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
Your recording session will take place in Catford, South East London. Easily accessible from London Charing Cross, Blackfriars, Cannon Street and London Bridge stations.
WHAT DO I NEED TO PREPARE?
Making the right song choices that best showcase your voice is essential to getting the most out of your reel. A good mix of Legit & Contemporary MT, Pop & Rock tend to work well. It may be worth consulting your agent (if you have one) and/or singing teacher as to what kind of songs will be most beneficial for you to get recorded. Sing the songs that best show you off.
If we are not recording video, then you are able to have sheet music/lyric sheets to help you, however we recommend being as familiar as possible with all the material you wish to record prior to your session.
Once you’ve chosen your songs and sourced your backing tracks, work out which songs you wish to record in full and which section(s) you wish to record just a snippet of.
DO I NEED TO PROVIDE MY OWN BACKING TRACKS?
You will need to provide backing tracks for all songs you wish to record. The better the quality of the backing track, the better your reel will be. Ripping tracks off of websites like YouTube is not only illegal, but the quality can often be terrible, and become a nightmare in the mixing and mastering process. We recommend investing in professional backing tracks from sites like Karaoke-Version.com, PianoTrax.com and others.
If you’re struggling to source good tracks, or need one created specifically for the session in a specific key/tempo, please do get in touch as it's more than likely we will already have a track for most songs, or will be able to assist in getting one made. Extra fees may apply, depending on what is required.
All tracks need to be sent over to us 24 hours in advance so we can be ready to get recording straight away on the day.
WHAT DO I NEED TO DO ON THE DAY?
Be sure to drink plenty of water and get enough sleep and rest in the days leading up to your session.
Please warm up vocally before you arrive for your session so we can make the most of the time we have in your session.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
This is only important if we're recording video.
We recommend wearing standard first-round audition attire. Thinking "First Date" is often helpful. Clothes that make you feel comfortable and best represent you and your personality, but nothing that will distract from your performance.
HOW MUCH IS A SESSION?
Packages start from £160, depending on what you require.
DO YOU DO ANY DISCOUNTS?
Yes! If you are a student, we offer a 25% discount on all packages. Email us (info@getreelsuk.com) telling us where you're studying and we'll send you the exclusive student discount code to apply at checkout.
If you're not a student, we often share special deals and discounts via social media. They're usually time and number limited, so keep a hot eye on all our socials - once they're gone, they're gone!
DO I NEED TO PAY A DEPOSIT?
Yes. A deposit of £35 is taken when you book you session, with the remaining balance to be paid on the day of your session.
HOW QUICKLY WILL I RECEIVE MY EDITED REEL AFTER MY SESSION?
We aim to deliver final mixdowns and edited reels within 7 working days of the recording session. If you are in a hurry to get it finished before 7 working days, we offer an express service for a small extra fee.
AM I ABLE TO RESCHEDULE MY SESSION IF I CAN NO LONGER MAKE IT?
Yes - Sessions can be rescheduled once per booking, as long as it is a minimum of 24 hours before your session start time. Contact us via email to arrange.
All deposits are non-refundable.
CAN I SHARE MY REELS ON MY SOCIAL MEDIA?
Absolutely! These days, sharing your reel on Social Media is just as important as attaching it to your Spotlight profile. Be sure to tag us in all posts so we can also share it on our pages to help build your following - which in turn helps us build ours! Everyone wins!
